Toyota dives back into mobile TV

LOS ANGELES-Toyota Motors North America plans to expand its mobile marketing efforts with a new wireless TV series from Fun Little Movies.

The automaker is sponsoring “The Pool,” a made-for-mobile comedy series that is being promoted with broadcast television commercials on major networks including ABC, Fox, BET and UPN. Toyota is sponsoring the offering to showcase its 2007 automobiles, and the series will be available through FLM partners including Sprint Nextel Corp., Bango, SmartVideo and other distribution channels.

Toyota first stepped into mobile TV advertising earlier this year by partnering with News Corp. to air made-for-mobile episodes of the Fox hit “Prison Break.” That series featured a 10-second pitch for the Yaris model before each episode, and the car was featured in some scenes.

“The Pool” is scheduled to debut Aug. 9.
