WATERLOO, Ontario—Analysts at UBS Equity Research speculated Research in Motion Ltd. could launch a new consumer device this fall, and is likely offering a preview of the device to carriers.
In an investor note, UBS analysts said various Web sites have posted pictures of a new Blackberry 8100 consumer device that appears to include a camera and MP3 player. UBS said the Web postings are consistent with its expectations that the company would launch a consumer-oriented multimedia device in the second half of this year.
A RIM spokesperson said the company has not officially announced any such device.
