NEW YORK—Verizon Communications Inc. announced a deal to provide directory assistance to customers of Dobson Cellular Systems, a subsidiary of Dobson Communications Corp.
Verizon’s LiveSource unit won a multi-year, multi-million-dollar contract with Dobson to provide directory services including call completion, movie and restaurant listings, weather forecasts, sports updates and Spanish language services. Listings can also be forwarded as a text message to wireless handsets.
The companies did not provide an exact value for the contract.
Dobson operates in 16 states and at the end of the second quarter reported a customer base of nearly 1.6 million.
