SAN ANTONIO—Clear Channel Radio said it launched its mobile radio programming initiative nationwide, with Cingular Wireless L.L.C. as a partner.
The launch featured New York’s WHTZ-FM Z100 music station streaming live radio directly to Cingular Wireless phones, said the company. The initiative also includes content such as podcasts of celebrity interviews and popular segments, searches of recent songs played on air, and text message alerts before selected songs are played.
The first sponsor for the program is DKNY Jeans, which provides daily fashion tips within the mobile content package, said Clear Channel.
Clear Channel said it plans to launch similar programs on as many as 100 of its radio stations during the next year.
