Forbes goes mobile

CHICAGO—Forbes magazine is the latest old-school print publication to go mobile, teaming with wireless developer mdog.com to offer a wireless version of its online content.

The company is targeting on-the-go executives with free access to all editorial content from Forbes.com including breaking news, stock quotes, tearsheet data and charts. Users can access the offering via HTML and WAP from smart phones including the Motorola Inc. Q, Palm Inc. Treo and Research In Motion Ltd.’s BlackBerry.

While many mainstream print publications were slow to respond to the rise of the Internet 10 years ago, magazines and newspapers are rapidly coming to market with wireless offerings. The Washington Post Co. last month launched mobile versions of the Beltway newspaper and Newsweek; other recent entrants include The New York Times, Time Magazine and The Wall Street Journal.
