PARIS —
Cingular Wireless L.L.C. said it will use Alcatel Inc.’s multiservice transport solution in its HSDPA network.
Alcatel said its technology will help Cingular migrate large-scale multiservice ATM networks to IP/MPLS without compromising availability, manageability and quality of service. Included in the deal are Alcatel’s 7670 Routing Switch Platform, the 1671 Service Connect multiservice cross-connect and the company’s 5620 Network Manager, which provides end-to-end, point-and-click network management.
Financial details of Alcatel’s deal with Cingular were not disclosed, but the win is significant for Alcatel as the vendor has struggled to win contracts with American carriers.
