RESTON, Va.-Sprint Nextel Corp. introduced a new iteration of its Web site, including a new, content-focused “Digital Lounge” and some additional perks for customers who shop and upgrade through the carrier’s Web site.
The carrier’s Digital Lounge allows customers to preview, purchase and manage mobile content using their computers: ringtones, games, screen savers, applications, multimedia themes and the like. Sprint Nextel said the site will be updated weekly with the latest content, and that the site provides access to its full digital content portfolio.
“Many of our wireless customers are savvy Internet users who want fast, convenient online options and transactions. The new Sprint.com provides that,” said Pete Taddeo, vice president of Sprint Virtual Business. “While the new Sprint Web site will continue to offer information and resources about Sprint products and services, it will also be the place where our customers can get involved. Sprint.com will play a critical role in ensuring we meet and satisfy the needs of our customers as well as revolutionize their Web experience.”
Users will also be able to use the site to check their eligibility for handset upgrades. Those who choose to upgrade online or by phone “are now able to do so without incurring any upgrade fees,” according to the carrier. Sprint Nextel added that since add-a-phone requests are so common, the carrier has made it easier for customers to make that change online or by phone.
Cingular Wireless L.L.C. also recently redesigned its Web site.
