NEW YORK-Verizon Wireless President and CEO Denny Strigl will take over a newly created position as president and COO of the wireless operator’s parent company, Verizon Communications Inc.
Verizon Wireless’ COO Lowell McAdams will step up to the plate as Verizon Wireless’ new CEO. The changes are effective Jan. 1. Strigl will remain a member of the Verizon Wireless board of directors, and will report to Ivan Seidenberg, Verizon’s chairman and CEO.
The move is part of a larger change to the company’s leadership structure. Two other executives have been moved into positions that encompass the entire Verizon company. John Stratton, currently chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless, will move to the newly created position of EVP and CMO for all of Verizon’s business units. Shaygan Kheradpir, currently chief information officer Chief for Verizon Telecom, has been named EVP and CIO for information technology initiatives for all of Verizon’s units.
Verizon said that the new leadership structure will “enable Verizon to focus more effectively on opportunities to grow and strengthen the business.”
Seidenberg called the changes “a logical and effective evolution of our leadership structure.”
