Yellowpages.com launches PC to mobile feature

Tired of paying fees for 411 calls, trying to get a taxi on the line at 2 a.m.? Fret not, mobile phone users. Yellowpages.com L.L.C. today announced the launch of a new send to mobile feature that allows users to send search results directly from their PC to their handsets.
The listing can be sent to any mobile phone as a text message for future reference. If text messaging isn’t your thing, Yellowpages.com has also been revamped for optimized use on mobile phone Web browsers. The mobile-version of the Web site provides the same information that more than 1 billion consumers received while searching for local business listings in 2006, the company said.
According to research cited by Yellowpages.com, a joint venture of AT&T Inc. and BellSouth Corp., soon to be just AT&T following its pending acquisition of BellSouth, December is the busiest time of year for looking up the number to taxi cabs. More searches were made for taxi companies and cabs in December 2005 than any other month.
“Our aim is to deliver our robust database of local businesses in the ways that consumers want to access them when they need something, while bringing our advertisers increasingly meaningful and relevant opportunities to reach consumers,” said Charles Stubbs, president and CEO of Yellowpages.com. “This new send to mobile feature and our mobile search application deliver on that commitment.”
