TI’s wireless chief, Delfassy, retires

Texas Instruments said Gilles Delfassy, senior vice president and head of the firm’s wireless terminals unit, will retire this year after 28 years with the company.
Delfassy, 51, has led the wireless unit since its inception in 1995, guiding TI’s efforts in wireless to a leadership position in that sector.
TI credited Delfassy with its “LoCosto” single-chip technology that is used in some low-cost handsets in emerging markets, as well as development of TI’s OMAP platform, which enables multimedia on mobile devices.
TI will promote Greg Delagi, 43, a 22-year veteran of the firm, to Delfassy’s position.
