SilverBirch Inc. is jumping into the mobile marketing arena with the acquisition of mobile marketing firm Jambo Mobile Solutions Inc. for an undisclosed sum. Both companies are based in Toronto.
Jambo’s proprietary Ignition technology powers mobile marketing services for customers including Adidas, Coca-Cola, Dell, Pfizer and Sony. SilverBirch develops, publishes and distributes games, ringtones and other wireless goodies.
“This combination gives us a range of proprietary technical capabilities that will be attractive to consumer product marketers seeking to leverage the fast-growing popularity of mobile content and text messaging,” said SilverBirch CEO Derek van der Plaat.
Jambo’s two co-founders, Derek Colfer and Matthew Kim, will join SilverBirch’s executive team under terms of the deal, which is expected to close within six weeks.
