Wireless U
As if the costs of tuition and books weren’t enough, some students are finding wireless technology is causing their student fees to increase. Students at the University of Maryland may have to pay an additional $292 in room and board costs next year, and part of the increase is due to expenses associated with a plan to provide wireless Internet access in all campus housing. The school plans to spend more than $35,000 upgrading all dorm data jacks to provide wireless Internet capabilities.

Magic handset
The well-known illusionist and artist, David Blaine, has singed a deal with LG Electronics Inc. to help promote the launch of the mobile phone manufacturer’s latest handset, the LG Shine, at a Feb. 7 performance in London.
Launched in Korea in November, the LG Shine has been hugely successful having already outsold the popular LG Chocolate handset, according to LG. The Shine features a thin brushed metal finish and a mirrored front that disappears when the slider phone is opened. The handset is the latest model in LG’s Black Label series.
Blaine’s appearance will mark the first time the magician will directly interact with British fans, as he mingles with the audience. He will perform Feb. 7 at Cirque in London.
