Mobile social networking developer Jumbuck Entertainment Ltd. reported a net profit of $1.86 million during the second half of 2006, up 11 percent from the same period in 2005.
The Melbourne, Australia-based firm said it generated $5.5 million in revenue during the six months, a 24-percent increase over the prior year, and said its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization was up 15 percent during the period. Jumbuck also said it added 10 new carrier partners between July and December, and launched 16 new services.
Jumbuck and its Canadian competitor AirG have gained traction with applications that allow users to blog, share photos and create mobile communities. A host of smaller players, including FunMobility and Intercasting Corp., are also vying for space on the field.
