Kenya’s largest cellular operator, Safaricom, launched a money transfer service that allows its customers to transfer money using short message service technology.
According to a Reuters report, in Kenya it is common for one member of a family to work in the city to support family living in rural areas.
The service will facilitate the transfer of funds in such situations, said the report. The service also allows customers to deposit or receive money through Safaricom stations throughout the country.

Mobile Streams said it has been chosen by Mondo Media to distribute the popular Happy Tree Friends animated mobile content series in Western Europe. The Happy Tree Friends, whose daily adventures begin innocently and end up going wrong, began as an online phenomenon and was recently launched by MTV as a half-hour series. Mobile Streams has exclusive rights to distribute the Happy Tree Friends content library in Western Europe, not including France. Content includes games, video, wallpaper, screensavers and ringtones.

Deception interception
A Wal-Mart employee was fired for intercepting text messages and pages of non-employees and for recording phone calls between its public-relations department and a New York Times reporter during the past several months. The company said the recordings and intercepting of text messages were not authorized and violate a policy forbidding such activity.
