Aircom network-sharing product launched

Aircom International made a series of announcements this week.
The company launched its ASSETShare product, which allows carriers to share network equipment. The company said the product addresses factors such as storage of 2G/3G multi-carrier network data, modeling of multiband antenna systems and collocation strategies, sharing of antenna configuration data and enforced data security.
“In countries such as Sweden and the UK, which have the highest rates of subscriber penetration and a desire to roll out feature-rich applications, network sharing is proving a welcome solution to the harsh realities of margin pressures,” said Margaret Rice-Jones, CEO of Aircom.
In addition, the company revealed a customer contract with Movistar Chile to provide its Enterprise software platform to optimize the carrier’s GSM network and plan for future UMTS network analyis.
Finally, Aircom said its independent radio protocol and parametric device testing laboratory saw a 200-percent increase in activity during the first quarter compared with the same period in 2006. The company also said its Operator Device Validation testing solution has experienced 500-percent growth in the past six months.
Aircom attributes the growth to a trend toward outsourcing non-core operations activities in the U.S. market.
