Kajeet gets SquarePants with new Nickelodeon deal

Tween mobile virtual network operator kajeet announced a deal with kid TV channel Nickelodeon, whereby kajeet will offer content from Nickelodeon on its phones and will advertise its services through Nickelodeon programs.
“More than one in four U.S. tweens own a cell phone, and that number is expected to double in the next three years. Like Nickelodeon, kajeet is totally kid-centric and was created to bring together the world of communication, information and entertainment that today’s technologically agile kids want in the palms of their hands,” said Daniel Neal, kajeet’s founder and CEO. “We see the partnership with Nickelodeon as a spot on opportunity to introduce and share our commitment to kids, tweens and families.”
Kajeet targets teens and tweens with services and handsets tailored for kids. The MVNO runs on Sprint Nextel Corp.’s CDMA network.
Under kajeet’s new agreement with Nickelodeon, the MVNO will offer a variety of mobile content from Nickelodeon including ringtones, wallpapers and games “of unique interest to kids.” The content will stem from Nickelodeon shows such as “The Rugrats,” “The Fairly OddParents,” “The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius” and “SpongeBob SquarePants.” Kajeet will also advertise on various Nickelodeon shows, including “SpongeBob SquarePants.”
