The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.

- Nigeria: Alcatel-Lucent said it signed a contract with Globacom to supply and install a UMTS/HSPA network in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Benin and Ibadan.
WiMAX - South Africa: Alvarion Ltd. said Telkom SA Ltd. has selected its BreezeMAX 3.5 GHz solution for its WiMAX rollout nationwide. Initial deployments are slated for the province of Gauteng and along coastal regions of the country.
- United States: Nortel Networks signed a contract with Moline Dispatch Publishing Co. to supply a WiMAX network in western Illinois and eastern Iowa through its Internet service provider Quad-Cities Online.
Wi-Fi - United Kingdom: The Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust, a women’s healthcare provider, has chosen Xirrus Inc. to provide a Wi-Fi network for use by doctors, nurses and other staff. And in London, The Cloud switched on a citywide Wi-Fi network provided by Nokia.
- United States: The University of Tulsa has deployed Cisco Systems Inc.‘s Unified Wireless Network to provide indoor and outdoor wireless connectivity throughout its campus.
Miscellaneous - China: China Telecom selected Alcatel-Lucent to provide its IP/MPLS solution to the carrier’s Shanghai Telecom subsidiary.
- Guatemala: Qualcomm Inc. and America Movil have joined forces to deploy a CDMA2000 1x EV-DO network and devices that will provide wireless access to 15 rural schools in the country.
- United States: BelAir Networks provided a public-safety wireless network covering the city of Beaverton, Ore., in cooperation with wireless integrator Invictus Networks.
