BlackBerry prices drop at AT&T, U.S. Cellular

AT&T Mobility slashed prices last week on its two BlackBerry Pearl models to $100, down from $150 for the red model and $200 on the regular model. Research In Motion Ltd. credited its strong earnings last quarter to the popularity of the Pearl.
AT&T Mobility also cut prices on two models of prepaid phones in its Pay As You Go program, reducing the Sony Ericsson Z300a to $40 (from $60) and the Pantech C120 to $60 (from $90). The carrier cut prices on those two handsets by the same amount in its Pick Your Own Plan program.
In other handset portfolio and pricing news, U.S. Cellular Corp.-the No. 7 U.S. carrier-cut the price on two BlackBerrys and raised the price on a third model: the 7250 was reduced to $50 (from $180), the 7130e to $150 (from $180) and the 8703a went up to $200 (from $180). The carrier also slashed pricing on the Nokia 6265i to $40 (from $170).
