Ryan leaves AT&T Mobility: Mark Collins steps in as new VP of data services

The front-office shuffle continued among the tier-one carriers as AT&T Mobility said Jim Ryan has stepped down from his post as VP of consumer and business data services.
Ryan joined AT&T-then known as Cingular Wireless L.L.C.-in 2003, and oversaw several major initiatives including the carrier’s recently launched full-track download service and the overhaul of its wireless Web offering in late 2005. Ryan also was involved with the carrier’s mobile video service, which launched last year.
An AT&T spokesman confirmed Ryan left the company “a couple of weeks ago.”
“He decided to look for other things to do,” said spokesman Mark Siegel, adding that he had no details regarding Ryan’s plans. “It was something he wanted to do, and we wish him all the best.”
Mark Collins, who had served as the carrier’s VP of long-term products and planning services, has replaced Ryan.
Ryan’s move follows the departure of two key executives at rival Sprint Nextel Corp., which recently lost both John Styers and Paul Reddick, who played major roles in the carrier’s content and mobile advertising businesses.
