Mobile video service MyCorner is the latest player on the user-generated content field, launching an ad-supported service that allows users to share clips with their mobile phones.
The Fremont, Calif.-based startup said the new service requires no application download and works on Internet-enabled phones by entering the company’s WAP URL in a browser. Consumers can upload videos from phones or PCs, and offer comments and rate clips from their handsets.
Third Screen Media Inc., which was acquired earlier this week by AOL L.L.C., is powering the ad-delivery component of MyCorner’s new offering. Nexage, MyCorner’s parent company, offers a white-label mobile video solution for media companies.
“The majority of the video content watched by individuals in the future will be generated by someone they know,” said Nexage CEO Dev Gandhi. “We are also making available highly attractive professional content by media companies that will enable users to watch and interact with content they are passionate about.”
