The following list includes venture capital and other investments into wireless companies announced during the past week. The value of the investment is included when available.
–AceComm: Hale Fund Management L.L.C. invested $4.2 million into AceComm Corp. via a private financing arrangement that included senior secured convertible prime-plus-three-percent notes and warrants. Note repayment is expected in three years. The company said it will use the new funding to roll out current products including its Parent Patrol and Enterprise Patrol offerings.
–MyStrands: Antonio Asensio, CEO of Grupo Zeta, led a $25 million Series B funding round into MyStrands, a developer of social recommendation technologies. Debaeque and Sequel also participated.
–Nimbuzz: Mangrove Capital Partners, MIH Group and Holtzbrinck Ventures invested $10 million into Nimbuzz, which provides mobile Internet connectivity tools.
–PixSense: Qualcomm Ventures led a new round of strategic funding into PixSense, a wireless multimedia and social networking convergence solutions company. The amount of the funding was not disclosed. PixSense said it will use the funds to grow its global corporate presence with wireless carriers.
–Tapatap: Gabriel Venture Partners invested $2.5 million into Tapatap Inc., a California-based start-up company that allows customers to create and play mobile photo contests for prizes.
–Tatara: Highland Capital Partners and North Bridge Venture Partners led an $8 million investment in femtocell company Tatara Systems. The company also announced board member E.Y. Snowden has been named executive chairman of the board, and Stephen Collins has joined the company as vice president of marketing and business development.
–Teleflip: Hercules Technology Growth Capital Inc. invested $1 million of venture debt financing into Teleflip Inc., which makes the flipMail e-mail message service.
–Trellia: Solidarity Fund QFL and Skypoint Capital invested $3.5 million in Trellia Networks Inc., which develops intelligent mobility solutions focused on enterprise applications. Skypoint previously invested $3.3 million in the company.
