Motricity renews with Conde Nast

Motricity Inc. will continue to deliver mobile content from Conde Nast’s portfolio of magazines and Internet sites.
The Durham, N.C.-based mobile content firm announced a two-year renewal of its deal with the publisher, which owns publications such as Architectural Digest, Bon Appetit, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair and Wired. Motricity will deliver news alerts and self-help tips to mobile users as well as text message polls to users who opt to participate.
The move underscores the haste with which traditional publishers are moving into wireless. Conde Nast and other high-profile publishers such as the Gannett Company Inc. and Hearst Magazines are moving beyond simple text alerts to offer branded, downloadable applications, and are advertising on wireless Web sites to drive revenues.
“We continue to see great results and increased potential from mobile,” said Carrie Seifer, director of emerging technologies for CondeNet, the company’s Internet division. “We’ve been able to create useful and fun text programs which are consistent with our brands, while also creating easy and effective programs for our advertisers to participate in and share in our mobile success.”
