Infrastructure awards wrap-up: Alvarion, Ericsson, ZTE and more

The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
Cellular
–Indonesia: Telkom Indonesia has chosen ZTE Corp. to expand the carrier’s CDMA2000 network in four cities in the eastern part of Sulawesi.
–Mexico: L.M. Ericsson said it entered a comprehensive spare parts management agreement with Telefonica Mexico covering the carrier’s GSM network.
–Nordic region: L.M. Ericsson and Finnish carrier Elisa announced they have launched HSPA on the uplink of Elisa’s 3G network.
WiMAX
–Jordan: Airspan Networks Inc. said it won a nationwide WiMAX deployment contract with Umniah Mobile Co., a subsidiary of the Batelco Group.
–Mauritius: Alvarion Ltd. said Emtel has chosen its BreezeMAX solution for a WiMAX deployment.
–Saudi Arabia: Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. said Saudi Telecom has chosen it to deploy a WiMAX 802.16e-based network in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.
Wi-Fi
–Brazil: PhoneBrasil International Inc. announced an agreement with CityNet Wireless to build a large-scale Wi-Fi network in Brazil. The two-year project is projected to be worth $1.2 billion.
