Mobile advertising startup Quattro Wireless pocketed $12.3 million in a second round of financing from Globespan Capital Partners and Highland Capital Partners.
The Waltham, Mass.-based company said it will use the cash to launch GetMobile, a self-service wireless advertising platform for advertisers and publishers. Highland led Quattro’s first round of funding, which totaled $6 million.
Quattro has deployed mobile sites and marketing campaigns for brands such as Gillette, Playboy and NFL.com, and offers a bid-for-click solution that matches advertising and inventory.
“This funding will allow Quattro to expand its mission to provide publishers with the tools to develop a dynamic, mobile Web presence across all carriers and handsets,” said CEO Andy Miller, “while offering advertisers a deep network of exclusive publishers’ inventory to build brand awareness and maximize direct response dollars from mobile.”
Meanwhile, Groove Mobile continued to pick up momentum in the mobile music space, snaring $6 million in funding from ORIX Venture Finance. Groove powers services for Sprint Nextel Corp. and 3UK, among others, and recently secured deals with Vodafone Group plc, MTS Allstream and Sony BMG.
The company has raised $32 million since its founding three years ago.
“With this additional funding from ORIX, we will continue to expand our services and seek out new opportunities for wireless carriers and record labels to provide the latest mobile entertainment solutions to consumers,” said CEO Eric Giler.
