Bees don’t hate cellphones A report earlier this year by a German university that suggested mobile phones were to blame for a decline in bee populations has been upended by a three-year scientific study by U.S. universities that showed a virus was to blame for the dearth of honeybees. The U.S. study noted the virus came from imported bees and royal jelly before spreading through apiaries and causing the bee deaths. Researchers also noted that current methods of bee raising were putting stress on bee colonies and making them more susceptible to contracting the virus. German researchers had thought the electromagnetic transmission from cellphones were causing the bees to become disoriented, halting their progress back to hives.
