Venture capital financing wrap-up: CloudShield, Ecrio, Nexcom and more

The following list includes venture capital and other investments into wireless companies announced during the past week. The value of the investment is included when available.
–CloudShield: Tektronix Inc. participated in a $15 million investment into CloudShield Technologies Inc, an IP services provider. CloudShield said it will use the funds to build on its sales momentum in the carrier and government sectors. Existing investors ComVentures, TPG Growth, Foundation Capital and Paladin Capital also participated. The company said it is now fully funded.
–Communications Capital Group: RBS Greenwich Capital invested $200 million into ComCap, a company that was recently formed to invest in wireless infrastructure companies. The companies closed a placement of convertible debt, subordinated debt and a senior secured funding facility for up to $200 million. The capital will fund ComCap’s acquisitions of cellular ground leases and other wireless infrastructure assets, said the company.
–Ecrio: CSK Venture Capital, Japan Asia Investment Co. and Nomura Securities participated in a $24 million Series C investment round into Ecrio, which provides real-time communications and commerce software for mobile phones. Also participating in the funding round were Aplix, NTT DoCoMo, Visa and current investor Noventi/CIR Ventures. The company said it will use the funding to increase its sales, technical and marketing staff and to enhance its product line through partnerships or acquisitions.
–NemeriX: Several firms invested $22 million into A-GPS solution provider NemeriX. All of the company’s existing investors-Atila Venture Partners, Auriga Partners, Oak Investment Partners, PolyTechnos Venture-Partners and VI Partners-participated in the round.
–Nexcom: Intel Capital and MCI Management S.A. made an investment of an undisclosed amount into Bulgarian telecommunications operator Nexcom Bulgaria EAD. The operator is in the process of building a nationwide WiMAX network.
–PicoChip: Samsung participated in the Series D round of funding into PicoChip. The amount of Samsung’s investment was undisclosed, but was part of a $27 million round of funding the company announced in July. The round was led by Highland Capital Partners.
–RPM Communications: Morgenthaler Ventures led a $4 million Series A funding round into RPM Communications, a mobile social networking company. TD Fund and individual investors also participated. The funding will be used for development, marketing and customer acquisition activities surrounding the company’s Utterz mobile blogging service. The funding also will be used to grow the company’s Foonz mobile conference call service.
–Vantrix: JK&B Capital invested $12 million in Series B financing into Vantrix Corp., which provides mobile multimedia adaptation and delivery solutions. Existing investors SummerHill Venture Partners, Entrepia Ventures, BDC Venture Capital and Innovacom also participated in the round. Vantrix said it will use proceeds to expand its global operations and to invest in infrastructure and research and development. The company said it is opening a new sales and R&D office in Bangalore and expanding its New York office in connection with the funding.
–WiChorus: Mayfield fund led a $15 million round of funding into WiChorus, which develops WiMAX and 4G core network solutions. Existing investors Redpoint Ventures and Accel Partners also participated. WiChorus said it will use the funds to support trials, enhance product functionality and expand sales and marketing. As part of the funding, Navin Chaddha, Mayfield’s managing director, will join the company’s board of directors.
