Portable GPS to generate nearly $12B in Western Europe by 2012

Portable navigation solutions and software solutions for multi-user devices are expected to generate $11.8 billion in revenues in Western Europe by 2012, according to a report from Juniper Research.
Fueling demand for the products are increasing traffic congestion on European roads, better quality products with more capabilities, peer pressure and convergence with other portable devices, said Juniper.
The firm said while sales of portable navigation devices are booming at the moment, the market is showing some signs of maturity and prices are continuing to fall. Juniper said there is strong competition in the space from in-vehicle navigation solutions and from software solutions for devices like mobile phones.
