The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
Cellular
–Finland: Elisa has chosen Nokia Siemens Networks and L.M. Ericsson to provide W-CDMA equipment for its third-generation network operating in the 900 MHz band.
–Israel: L.M. Ericsson said it has been chosen by Pelephone to deliver a new W-CDMA/HSPA network in a migration from its existing W-CDMA network.
–Norway: Telenor said it has chosen Nokia Siemens Network to enhance its 3G network with HSDPA technology.
–Uzbekistan: Coscom L.L.C. JV has chosen Nokia Siemens Networks to build its nationwide second-generation network in a $152 million deal.
WiMAX
–Dominican Republic: Airspan Networks Inc. said Tricom awarded it a contract to supply WiMAX equipment for its 3.5 GHz network deployment.
–Paraguay: Redline Communications Inc. said it has been chosen by Personal to provide additional WiMAX equipment for the carrier’s network expansion project.
–Tanzania: Hotspot Business Solutions selected Redline Communications Inc.‘s RedMAX products for its rollout of a national WiMAX network.
Wi-Fi
–United States: CBS Corp. said it will create a Wi-Fi network covering midtown Manhattan, N.Y., by deploying equipment on its outdoor billboards.
Miscellaneous
–Canada: Motorola Inc. said the Montreal Transit Authority selected its RFID solution, including readers, tags and antennas, to track its bus fleet.
