T-Mobile USA Inc. announced it will restart sales of the Motorola Inc.-built Sidekick Slide starting next week. The carrier said Motorola will fix the glitch-which caused some of the devices to power off when the gadget’s sliding door was opened or closed-that forced T-Mobile USA to suspend Sidekick Slide sales earlier this week.
“Motorola has determined that the intermittent power cycling on some T-Mobile Sidekick Slide devices was caused by a minor issue relating to the battery contacts,” the carrier said in a statement, adding that Motorola will repair existing devices and incorporate the fix into newly manufactured ones.
T-Mobile suspended sales of its Sidekick Slide on Friday after Motorola informed the carrier of the glitch. The device went on sale earlier this month at $200.
Motorola has the top market-share position in the United States, though this year it has slipped from No. 2 to No. 3 in global vendor rankings.
