Alvin invasion via voicetones
Who wouldn’t jump at the chance to sound like a Chipmunk without the aid of helium? 20th Century Fox is promoting its forthcoming “Alvin and The Chipmunks” movie with its “Munk Yourself” campaign. The interactive campaign allows users to create their own chipmunk voice and audio message, as well as build a chipmunk avatar. The system uses a voice filter to transform the user’s voice into the sound of The Chipmunks. Users can share their downloaded recording via e-mail. In addition, as part of the campaign, Telescope Inc. has developed a promotion that allows users to send one of 20 different chipmunk mobile voicetones to a friend’s cellphone.

Monitoring for diabetes-wireless style
The Navajo Nation announced a program aimed to help its citizens combat diabetes. Citizens will be equipped with glucose monitors that will transmit information via a constellation of communications balloons operated by Space Data Corp. The diabetes program marks the first use of the SkySite system for a health-related program, said the company. Space Data launches balloons with specially equipped communication packages to maintain a constant constellation at 65,000 feet above the Navajo Nation. After passing over the coverage area, the communications packages parachute to earth and are located through GPS signals. Doctors will monitor the glucose levels of participating patients in order to provide emergency services and ongoing advice to patients.
