Handset distributor Brightpoint Inc. shuffled around some members of its executive team, promoting some veterans within the company to more prominent roles. The moves come as the company continues to integrate operations with Dangaard Telecom, a European handset distributor it recently acquired for $300 million.
Jac Currie was appointed chief information officer and will lead the company’s global IT team. Currie had been president of emerging markets since early 2006, and prior to that was chairman and CEO of Persequor Ltd., a holding company for investments in wireless telecommunications, which Brightpoint acquired. Currie has been in the wireless industry since 1988.
Bruce Thomlinson will continue in his role as president of the Asia Pacific region, but will have his responsibilities expanded to include the Middle East, Africa and India. Prior to his current role, Thomlinson served as president of international operations and president of the company’s Asia Pacific division.
Lastly, David O’Connell has been named CFO for Brightpoint Europe. Prior to this promotion, O’Connell served as VP of integration and communications and VP of taxation, global credit and risk management.
