Infrastructure awards wrap-up: Nokia Siemens, Motorola, Ericsson and more

The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
Cellular
China: China Mobile Group Beijing Ltd. chose Nokia Siemens Networks to expand its GPRS core network.
Denmark: Nokia Siemens Networks has been chosen by Sonofon to upgrade the carrier’s existing W-CDMA network with HSDPA technology.
Russia: L.M. Ericsson signed a frame agreement with Mobile TeleSystems to supply a 3G/HSPA network.
United States: MetroPCS Wireless and Alcatel-Lucent signed a three-and-a-half-year contract extension that includes supply of 3G CDMA2000 equipment for New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Detroit, Dallas and Los Angeles.
WiMAX
Pakistan: Motorola Inc. said it won a contract to supply an 802.16e-2005 network to Mobilink.
Wi-Fi
United States: NextWave Wireless Inc. said its GO Networks subsidiary is providing its MBW 2000 series micro cell and MBW 1000 series pico cell Wi-Fi base stations to Unplugged Cities for deployment in Osseo, Minn.
Miscellaneous
Italy: Conad selected Nokia Siemens Networks to provide hosting and charging services for its new mobile operations.
United States: Nextlink Wireless Inc. said it signed an agreement with L.M. Ericsson calling for the company to provide microwave radio transmission solutions and professional services to support buildout of mobile backhaul networks.
