Venture capital financing wrap-up: BelAir, Mobile Posse, Streamezzo and more

The following list includes venture capital and other investments into wireless companies announced during the past week. The value of the investment is included when available.

BelAir: Export Development Canada and Wellington Financial led a $17.5 million round of funding into BelAir Networks, which provides wireless broadband mesh network solutions. Existing investors Comcast Interactive Capital, T-Mobile Venture Fund, Trilogy Equity Partners, Panorama Capital, VenGrowth Capital Partners Inc., BDC Venture Capital, Ventures West Management, McLean Watson and MMV Financial also participated in the round.

Hi-G-Tek: L Capital Partners and Battelle Ventures led a $5.5 million round of funding into Hi-G-Tek, which provides RFID solutions. The company said the funds will help it grow its presence in the international cargo security and petroleum logistics markets.

Intelleflex: Motorola Inc. and Arcapita Ventures participated in the Series C funding round into RFID platform company Intelleflex. In addition Motorola and Intelleflex have agreed to cooperate on product development.

Juice Wireless: 21Ventures led a $6 million third-round funding into mobile social networking company Juice Wireless.

Mobile Posse: Softbank Capital led a $10 million Series B equity financing round into Mobile Posse Inc., a mobile content and advertising solution provider. Also participating were Court Square Ventures, Columbia Capital and individual investors. The company said the funding will facilitate commercial implementation with additional carriers and expand its advertising sales division.

SquareLoop: A group of angel investors invested $1 million into location-based services company SquareLoop Inc. The funding will be used to support the company’s sales and marketing efforts. Investors include Raul Fernandez, CEO of Object Video; Nigel Morris, co-founder of Capital One; Jack Davies, founder of AOL International; The McDonnell Family, Zeitgeist Holdings; and the Center for Innovative Technology GAP Fund, as well as others.

Streamezzo: NTEC participated in a $22 million round of funding into Streamezzo, which provides rich media solutions and platforms for mobile communications. Existing investors also participated, including Sofinnova Partners, AXA Private Equity, I-Source Gestion, Sofinnova Ventures, Qualcomm and GET Valorisation.

Validus: Oak Hill Venture Partners led a $10 million first round of funding into Validus DC Systems, which provides integrated DC power infrastructure for data centers and telecom facilities. The company said it will use the financing to accelerate commercial deployments of its fully integrated DC power infrastructure products.

Zeugma: Vertex Venture Capital led a $22.5 million Series B funding round into Zeugma Systems Inc. Also participating were returning investors Granite Ventures, Ventures West, Yaletown Venture Partners, GrowthWorks Capital Ltd. and BDC Venture Capital. The company said it will use the funding to launch products and services.
