3G uptake to drive new base station deployments

The pace of 3G uptake will directly impact the demand for base stations during the next several years, according to a new study from In-Stat.
The firm says light uptake of 3G services over the next several years will result in minimal demand for base stations. But heavy demand for 3G services could drive significant spending on base stations.
In-Stat predicts more than 4.7 million cellular base stations will be in operation by 2011.
