DukeNet to acquire 115 towers from Vangard

DukeNet Communication Services L.L.C., which is owned by Duke Energy Corp., said it signed a definitive agreement to acquire 115 wireless towers from Vangard Wireless L.P.
The sites are located within Duke Energy’s utility territory in Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio and South Carolina, as well as in Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
“This acquisition represents a significant platform of existing tower sites within DNCS’s core market,” said Dan Turnpaugh, DNCS director of tower operations. “It will allow us to continue to focus on markets located in and adjacent to Duke Energy’s franchised utilities.”
The agreement allows DNCS to immediately market the sites. The companies expect to close on about three-fourths of the sites early in the second quarter with additional closings throughout the rest of the year.
