The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
Cellular
–Egypt: Etisalat Misr signed a contract with L.M. Ericsson calling for the company to provide GSM/W-CDMA/HSPA equipment for a network buildout in Egypt.
–Russia: L.M. Ericsson said it has been chosen by VimpelCom to supply and implement a W-CDMA/HSPA network to cover seven of nine macro regions across Russia, including Moscow, the North Caucasus, Siberia, Volga, Northwest Russia, South Russia and the Urals. The five-year agreement calls for Ericsson to supply W-CDMA/HSPA radio access and core network equipment.
WiMAX
–Mongolia: Airspan Networks Inc. said it has been chosen to provide its MacroMAX base stations and customer premises equipment to Ulusnet, a subsidiary of Mobicom.
–Russia: Enforta has selected Airspan Networks to provide its MicroMAX base stations and customer premises equipment for the carrier’s WiMAX network buildout.
Miscellaneous
–Brazil: Alcatel-Lucent said it signed a contract with Brasil Telecom to provide operations and maintenance services for the carrier’s internal plant, including wireless, wireline and data networks, as well as its outside plant.
–Germany: Deutsche Bahn AG has awarded a contract to Nokia Siemens Networks to expand the company’s GSM-Railway system along an additional 7,000 kilometers of passenger railroad routes.
