Infrastructure awards wrap-up: Ericsson, Alvarion and Nokia Siemens Networks

The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
Cellular
–Paraguay: L.M. Ericsson said it has been chosen by Personal to supply a nationwide W-CDMA/HSPA network
WiMAX
–Kenya: Alvarion Ltd. said Kenya Data Networks Ltd. plans to expand its WiMAX network using Alvarion’s BreezeMAX system in seven additional cities.
Miscellaneous
–Indonesia: Nokia Siemens Networks said it has been chosen to provide its location-based services solution for PT Telekomunikasi Selular.
–Italy: Fixed mobile operator Fastweb said it plans to launch a new MVNO service using technology provided by Nokia Siemens Networks.
–Saudi Arabia: L.M. Ericsson said it signed a managed services partnership agreement with Mobily. Ericsson said the three-year, multivendor agreement is its largest managed services agreement in the Middle East. The agreement calls for Ericsson to be responsible for network operations, field operations and optimization as well as spare parts management.
