The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
WiMAX
–Libya: Alcatel-Lucent said it won a contract from Libya Telecom and Technology to deploy a commercial WiMAX network based on the 802.16e-2005 standard.
–Thailand: Motorola Inc. said it is working with Advanced Info Service to conduct trials of mobile WiMAX solutions.
–United States: Towerstream said it is bringing service to the GM Building in New York City. The company will supply the 50-story building with high-speed broadband access service.
Miscellaneous
–Dominican Republic: Ceragon Networks said it deployed its FibeAir solution for fixed and mobile carrier Codetel to expand the capacity of the carrier’s fixed and mobile backhaul network.
–Indonesia: Telkomsel chose Nokia Siemens Networks‘ network to Release 4 architecture with its MSC Server System mobile softswitch solution.
–United States: Cricket Communications chose Acme Packet‘s session border controllers to interconnect its VoIP core network to other service providers.
