Mowser remains go to DotMobi

Mowser has found a buyer.
The technology behind the Web-to-mobile transcoding service that flat-lined three weeks ago was picked up by DotMobi, the Irish consortium behind the mobile-exclusive top-level domain. DotMobi said it will integrate Mowser’s technology into both enterprise- and consumer-targeted mobile development tools, and will add components of Mowser to its content-creation tools.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Mowser founders Russell Beattie and Michael Rowehl will serve as consultants “for a few months,” according to a post on Beattie’s blog.
“This is great news,” Beattie wrote. “Miker and I got pinged by a surprising number of people and companies interested in Mowser, but we went with DotMobi because they were first, enthusiastic, and we felt they would provide a good home for our work. While we didn’t get rich on the deal, I’ve been able to pay off a bunch of debts . which has been a huge load off my mind.”
Beattie attracted attention in the blogosphere last month when he announced Mowser’s demise, opining that “there never was (a mobile Web market) to begin with.”
