Sierra Wireless announced it added an IP security layer of virtual private network security enhancements to its AirLink product line, which the company said will improve data security on its AirLink intelligent wireless gateways.
“Ensuring the security of the data from enterprise assets located outside an organization’s physical facilities is a significant challenge that concerns many of our customers,” said Justin Schmid, VP of marketing and business development for the Sierra Wireless Mobile and M2M group. “The addition of IPsec VPN to ALEOS (the AirLink Embedded Operating System) will provide additional assurance that their remote assets and sensitive data are protected against unauthorized access.”
ALEOS provides capabilities like remote monitoring and configuration, packet-level diagnostics and over-the-air firmware updates. Features of ALEOS with IPSec VPN include standards-based IPSec, enhanced data security for all applications connected through a compatible AirLink gateway, wizard-based setup, remote management and control via AceWare tools, a secure two-way communication channel with data encryption and over-the-air download and configuration.
