Clearwire looks to clarify management positions

Clearwire Corp. is prepping for its impending merger with Sprint Nextel Corp.’s Xohm WiMAX business by shuffling employees.
In an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Clearwire’s CEO Ben Wolff included an e-mail dated Sept. 19 addressed to Clearwire and Xohm highlighting his plans for the new Clearwire. In the email, Wolff outlined his idea of a new senior management team, which he plans to run by the Board of Directors. He also announced the departure of current Clearwire CFO John Butler.
Wolff’s senior management team recommendations include: Barry West as president and chief architect of Clearwire; Perry Satterlee as senior VP and COO; Atish Gude as senior VP and chief marketing officer; Broady Hodder as senior VP and general counsel; Gerry Salemme as executive VP and strategy, policy and external affairs; John Saw as senior VP and CTO; Scott Richardson as senior VP and chief strategy officer; and Scott Hopper as senior VP of corporate development. The Clearwire employees nominated (Satterlee, Hodder, Salemme, Saw and Richardson) already hold those positions; this will just move them to a higher, senior level.
West and Gude will also relocate to Clearwire’s headquarters in Seattle in the coming months, Wolff said, but added that the Clearwire presence in Xohm’s headquarters in Herndon, Va., would remain strong. Wolff said more key leader and staff selections will be announced this week.
