Venture capital financing wrap-up: Send Word Now, Transaction Wireless, Zvents and more

The following list includes venture capital and other investments into wireless companies announced during the past week. The value of the investment is included when available.
Send Word Now: Palisade Concentrated Equity Partnership led a $14 million Series D funding round into Send Word Now, a software and services company focused on emergency notification, on-demand alerting and response services.The company is based in New York City.
ShopText: Connecticut Innovations made a $1 million investment in ShopText Inc., a mobile commerce and promotions company. ShopText is currently relocating from New York to South Norwalk, Conn.
Skydeck: Saban Ventures made an investment in Skydeck, an online service that helps customers keep track of their mobile bills. The undisclosed investment was part of the company’s Series A financing round. Craig Cooper, managing director of Saban Ventures, joins Skydeck as part of the investment. Skydeck said it has raised $4 million total to date, $3 million of which came from the most-recent funding round.
Transaction Wireless: Mission Ventures and Okapi Ventures invested $2.25 million in Series A funding into Transaction Wireless, a mobile infrastructure, commerce and marketing company. Leo Spiegel, managing partner of Mission, and Marc Averitt, managing director of Okapi, join the company’s board of directors in connection with the funding. The company, which is based in San Diego, said it will use the funding for sales and marketing expansion, technology development and customer deployment.
Tungle: Commonwealth Capital Ventures led a $5 million round of Series A funding into scheduling services company Tungle. Existing investors JLA Ventures and Desjardins Venture Capital also participated in the round. The funds will be used to accelerate the company’s marketing and engineering activities. Jeff Hurst, general partner at Commonwealth Capital, joins the company’s board of directors in connection with the funding.
Zvents: Nokia Growth Partners, Navteq and AT&T participated in a $24 million funding round into Zvents, a local search engine and paid listings network. Existing investors Vantage Point Venture Partners and Red Rock Ventures also participated in the round. Zvents said it will use the funding to expand the reach of its local listings advertising network. The company is based in San Mateo, Calif.
