Dexterra Inc. today unveiled two new editions to its mobile development platform and new field service solutions geared to help businesses operate more efficiently and reduce costs.
For its Dexterra Concert platform, the company is offering editions for the enterprise and for carriers. The new platform editions support the company’s new field services suite, which uses patent-pending technology to help businesses combine scheduling and dispatch, mobile service and mobile tracking into an integrated package.
The enterprise edition comes with pre-built, standards-based technology and database and application adapters. It supports multiple devices including BlackBerry, Symbian OS, Windows Mobile and the iPhone. The edition also features a patented data management mechanism that will streamline workflow and protect enterprise information, the company said.
The carrier edition allows service providers to sell Dexterra’s platform and applications as a billable service. It also allows the providers to facilitate access to customer’s business data without having to store it, according to the company.
“The lack of mobile solutions specifically designed for the unique needs of enterprises and wireless carriers has been a limiting factor in mobile adoption and market growth,” Rob O’Farrell, Dexterra general manager of mobile platform and tools, said in a statement. “By creating separate editions, we meet the specialized mobility requirements of these two types of customers, accelerating their deployment, reducing overall costs and increasing profits and productivity.”
The new field services suite allows businesses to track employees and vehicles in real-time using location based services. Field service applications can also be deployed in multiple languages and scheduling and dispatch can be improved with intelligent engines, business rules and a simplified user experience.
