The following list includes venture capital and other investments into wireless companies announced during the past week. The value of the investment is included when available.
—Awarepoint: Cardinal Partners led a $13.3 million Series D funding round into San Diego, Calif.-based Awarepoint Corp., which provides real-time location systems. Also participating in the round were Venrock and existing investor Avalon Ventures. Funds will be used for domestic and international growth. Brandon Hull, managing partner at Cardinal Partners, and Brian Ascher, general partner at Venrock, join Awarepoint’s board of directors as part of the financing.
—MoboVivo: AVAC Ltd. made a $1 million investment commitment into multimedia distribution company MoboVivo Inc., which delivers educational, entertainment and lifestyle productions to a variety of devices.
—Pocket: Battery Ventures led a $100 million equity funding round into Pocket Communications, which provides flat-rate unlimited wireless service in the Northeast. The company will use the funding for network buildout and working capital. Battery’s Matthew Niehaus will join Pocket’s board of directors as part of the funding round.
—Spectrum Bridge: Espirito Santo Ventures led a $8.1 million Series B funding round into Spectrum Bridge. Existing investors True Ventures, Telecommunications Development Fund and Milicom Venture Partners, along with members of the company’s management team, also participated in the funding round. The funding will be used to expand SpecEx, the company’s online marketplace for spectrum. The company is based in Lake Mary, Fla.
—XCOM: Growthink said it is helping to raise $6 million in a Series B funding round for XCOM Wireless, a fabless developer of wireless semiconductor components.
