The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
WiMAX
–Poland: Airspan Networks said it won an expansion contract to deliver its WiMAX solutions for the 3.5 GHz and 5.9 GHz band to Multimedia Polska. The order includes both fixed and mobile ready base station equipment as well as customer premises equipment units. Airspan won its original contract with the company in 2007.
Wi-Fi
–United States: The Denver Public Schools system in Colorado has deployed AirWave‘s Wireless Management Platform Suite 6.0 to manage its 2,400 wireless LAN access points in 134 buildings.
Miscellaneous
–Slovakia: T-Mobile Slovakia selected Ericsson as the sole supplier of mobile core IP infrastructure. Ericsson will provide its Mobile Packet Backbone Network solution as part of the contract, which also includes Redback Network‘s SmartEdge products.
–United States: Conterra Telecom Services completed a wide area broadband wireless network for the Pulaski County, Va., school district. The initial deployment included seven schools and the school board offices. The district received some funding for the deployment from the federal E-Rate program, which is part of the Universal Service Fund.
