The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi, and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.
Cellular
–Luxembourg: Ericsson said it won a contract with P&T Luxembourg to replace its existing nationwide W-CDMA/HSPA access network. The six-year agreement calls for Ericsson to supply a W-CDMA access network including HSPA functionality to improve the performance of the carrier’s mobile broadband services.
WiMAX
–Italy: Linkem Spa has chosen Alvarion to provide its 4Motion solution for the 3.5 GHz frequency band for a nationwide WiMAX network rollout.
–Taiwan: Alvarion said it signed a contract with VMAX Telecom to deploy a mobile WiMAX network in the country, starting in the Taoyuan and Hsinchu counties. The deployment includes Alvarion’s BreezeMAX 2500 base stations.
