The most highly visible executive from Yahoo Inc.’s mobile side has called it quits.
Marco Boerries, who had overseen the company’s Connected Life division for four years, is stepping down “for personal reasons,” a Yahoo representative confirmed via e-mail. According to BoomTown, Boerries sent a note to staffers on Sunday informing them of the move, citing a desire to spend more time with his family in Europe.
Boerries had been a prolific speaker at CTIA conferences and other industry events, and had overseen the development and launch mobile products and services such as Yahoo Go, oneConnect, oneSearch and the Blueprint development platform.
But onlookers had predicted Boerries’ departure – whether voluntary or not – following the arrival of Yahoo’s new CEO Carol Bartz, who is rumored to be planning a major management shakeup as soon as this week.
