Sprint Nextel Corp. is targeting businesses with new pricing and a new business unit. The No. 3 carrier said it added unlimited wireless-to-wireless calling to its business customers in new Sprint Business Advantage programs, which the carrier said are simpler than its previous Business Essentials program. Included in the new plans are unlimited wireless-to-wireless calling to any other domestic wireless carrier, which Sprint Nextellaunched last week in the consumer space.
“Customers will have business-grade communications tools included in their plans at a price that beats AT&T Business Pooled Nation plans and Verizon’s Nationwide for Business Plans with comparable features,” Sprint Nextel said. “In addition to the market-leading pricing, all plans deliver more value with unlimited Direct Connect and Group Connect at no additional charge, and unlimited nights and weekends starting at 7 p.m.”
The carrier also formed a new group of 4,000 sales, support, marketing and operations employees to focus on the enterprise segment, an increasingly lucrative space as companies provide wireless services to employees to make them more productive.
The company said existing customers on the Business Essentials plans can continue to stay on those plans.
