Millicom International Cellular S.A. is deploying Comverse’s Voice HUB product in its TIGO-branded wireless networks in Bolivia and Honduras. The Comverse product includes a service that forwards voice messages as multimedia messages or e-mails. Other features of the Voice HUB product include notification of missed calls via text message and notification when a dialed line is no longer busy.
Nokia and education company Pearson formed a joint venture in China with the goal of growing the Mobiledu mobile-phone-delivered education service developed by Nokia. The Mobiledu service was launched in 2007 and provides educational content from a variety of providers directly to mobile phones. Nokia said the service has attracted 20 million subscribers since its launch. About 1.5 million people actively use the service each month. The Beijing Mobiledu Technologies joint venture will be headed by Angela Long, the former chief of Mobiledu at Nokia.

Altair Semiconductor and antenna company SkyCross said they plan to work together on LTE products. The agreement calls for Altair to integrate the SkyCross iMAT MIMO antenna into its FourGee LTE USB ExpressCard UE. The companies have had a cooperation agreement for more than a year, originally focused on mobile WiMAX technology.
SmartTrust, which develops SIM and mobile device management software for mobile operators, said it has been chosen by Mobilkom Austria Group to implement its SmartRoam solution. SmartTrust said its solution improves network efficiency and enhances the customer experience by enabling Over-The-Air provisioning of roaming services and SIM Toolkit commands based on real-time network events. The platform will support Mobilkom’s wireless networks in Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, Lichtenstein, Serbia and Macedonia.
Japan’s NTT Communications Corp. has selected Sandvine’s Policy Traffic Switch to be deployed nationwide. Sandvine’s PTS platform is a scalable solution that provides carriers business-level information for market creation, quota management and capacity planning.
The Authority for Info-Communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam has chosen Analysys Mason, a global telecom, IT and media adviser, to develop a broadband strategy for the nation. Analysys Mason will review existing broadband policy and strategies and formulate a vision and implementation plan for the broadband sector.
ChaiOne, an iPhone application development agency, WhichBox Media, a content publishing platform provider, announced a strategic partnership. The companies said they will combine their core technologies in an effort to monetize mobile and online content for publishers and media companies.
