Following are infrastructure contracts announced during the past week:
ADC Telecom
United States: With Messiah College in Grantham, Penn., to deploy its InterReach Fusion indoor distributed antenna system to provide indoor cellular coverage initially in five academic buildings with a planned expansion to all academic areas and residential facilities.

Bulgaria: With Vivacom to provide end-to-end network operations under a five-year outsourced management agreement.

Ukraine: With MTS-Ukraine to provide an IP/MPLS-based mobile backhaul solution to support next-generation mobile broadband services. MTS also contracted with Alcatel-Lucent to conduct an LTE trial that is scheduled to begin during the second half of this year.

Ericsson
Japan: With Softbank Mobile to upgrade the carrier’s 3G network, including RBS6000 HSPA/LTE base stations and rollout services. The contract calls for Ericsson to upgrade the network to support multi-carrier HSPA technology, which will provide increased speeds for the most data dense areas in the country.

Sweden, Norway and Denmark: With Ice.net for a CDMA network extension in the 450 MHz band and related support services. The expansion is focused on rural areas within the carrier’s coverage area.

Motorola
Taiwan: With First International telecom to deploy a WiMAX network in the northern region of the country. The contract is the second between the two companies. FiTel awarded Motorola a WiMAX contract in 2008.

India: With Aircel to supply a GSM network in Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan states, including rolling out and managing a radio and core network.
